Alright, so I am in the market to buy my first gaming computer, however, for work (and also personal preference) I need a Mac. My idea is, to buy the, with a Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB. What I would like to do is use the iMac as my daily computer, and boot into Bootcamp for gaming, and use Parallels for other tasks that I need a PC for. My questions are: 1) Am I crazy, or is this reasonable? 2) Is the 4GB graphics card going to get me by for awhile? I know that graphics card are a hassle and expensive to upgrade for an iMac, so I want to make sure my gaming interests are safe for awhile. 3) I am not too familiar with Bootcamp and Parallels. I've read that Parallels can boot into your Bootcamp partition, however, I don't exactly know what this means. Does this mean that if I can open the same desktop, files, organization, etc. That I have in Bootcamp? So just a quicker, less powerful way to access my PC side of my computer? 4) Would a Hackintosh really be easier and more convenient? I know absolutely nothing about the process and such, so I'd be relying on internet guides. I don’t have the iMac, but I have the 2017 rMBPt with the Radeon pro 560 /4gb as well. I thought it would be a different card in the iMac but it looks like it might not be. Anyway, even on the mbp in boot camp, I’m able to play all of the games that I want to fairly reasonably. It’s by no means a powerful gaming computer, but for well optimized games like overwatch I can easily be pinned at my limit of 60 FPS (screen refresh limit) on high settings and above 1080. Even ghost recon held at 30-40 with the right settings. It all plays much better than I expected it to, and definitely well enough to be happy with. But again, it definitely won’t be a gaming powerhouse. There’s also a bigger than 1ms input lag on the display which is a little noticeable when moving the mouse around fast in games, but it’s not an annoyance for me since I’ve never played on a better monitor with a better gfx card. Edit: I also play rocket league, the division, fortnite, dirt rally, pubg, and some others on there all with no problems. Not sure off the top of my head what settings work well for them, but any of the ones you want to run fast, you can get to (or above) 60fps with settings above the lowest.
